SusuanaLove: Update on life

Black and White Page Graphics

Hello

Days have been a complete blur to me, since I got here.
The course I am studying s media Arts. The first year consists on 50% theory - Critical Theory and Film & Television History and 50% Practial. The course is for people that want to go in into the production in or directing part of the media. Id love to produce or Direct or write even, Im still not sure.
The course has be quite intriguing so far, Ive learned how cinema was invented, it sort of developed from photography and inventors, even  Tomas edison. It wasnt an art it was just science, but when all this became part of public entertainmet media, it developed in to an art.

Hopefully I wiil be going to see the Muybridge exabition at Tate Britain. Eadweard J. Muybridge (9 April 1830 – 8 May 1904) was an English photographer who spent much of his life in the United States. He is known for his pioneering work on animal locomotion which used multiple cameras to capture motion, and his zoopraxiscope, a device for projecting motion pictures that pre-dated the flexible perforated film strip. (wiki :P)
Muybrige sort of took photography, made it into animation and produced he motion picture - film
One annoying thing about not living in London anymore! the expense and time waisted getting there!!! Our campus is in a forest! there are no shops! notthhinngg! and buses come every twenty minutes! Im the fact i was surrounded by cool places like galleries!

I know I said Id join the photography society, well i haven't been yet but I will go on Tuesday. It sound great, we have photo walks, lectures on photography techniques and styles darkroom training and Free access and use of photography equipment , even camera renting (vintage and new). Ive never really been taught how to do anything with my camrea, I sort of worked it out by my self or asked my friends. I cant wait for my grant come through so I can get my Canon 500D. Its goin to be my first dslr, I chose this one especially becuse it films in HD.
For all the photography fans out there I think this is an interesting debate - http://www.digital-photography-school.com/passion-artistry-training
Are Passion and Artistry more Important than Photography Training?

Anyway, Im going to leave you with some pictures from Uni :)

  1. oh like the pictures, glad it is going well. Oh yeah sign up for the photography it will be a great why of sharing skill and picking up some new ideas etc...
I think that art and photography go hand in hand, I don't think there is importance and not. Everything is relative and not, it all depends on your perspective. A great film to watch is 'CITY OF GOD' it shows that you can just have natural skill. I think that what matters is the final result, it is all very well spending fives years researching etc, but if none gets it was it worth it. Great post xxxx
